Field Stone Fruit Wines, launched in July of 2005, made history as Alberta’s first-ever estate winery. 

Nestled on 50 acres of lush berry orchards just outside Strathmore — only 40 minutes east of Calgary — Field Stone Winery has long been celebrated for its sun-ripened, exceptional fruit, grown under Alberta’s expansive blue skies. 

For over a decade, under the care of The Gill Family, this land flourished as both a beloved U-Pick destination and home to award-winning wines crafted from saskatoon berries, strawberries, raspberries, and more. By blending Mother Nature’s bounty with biological farming principles, they established a legacy of quality, care, and community. 

Today, Laura Atherton and Phil Hoogendam are proud to carry this legacy forward, inspired by the passion and craftsmanship that first made Field Stone Winery a household name. With deep respect for the Gill Family’s vision, Laura and Phil bring fresh energy, new ideas, and a commitment to preserving what makes this winery so special — from the orchard to the bottle. 

Looking ahead, Laura and Phil are reimagining this cherished space as a vibrant destination for community connection. Plans are underway to transform the property into a welcoming event space — a gathering place where guests can not only enjoy wine but also share in cooking classes, artistic workshops, and celebrations both grand and intimate. 

Using fruit grown primarily on-site, our wines remain 100% Alberta-made, capturing the taste of the prairies in every sip.
